Market Your Home For Sale By Owner Like A Pro!

Let’s face it, it’s a hard cruel world out there. The real estate market is definitely seen better days. The worse part about this is that if you are trying to sell your home by owner losing hope isn’t that difficult to do. No one blames you for trying to reap as much profit on your home but it sure feels like it with agents calling you and buyers acting as if you owe them the house for free! It’s not the same market we saw a few years ago but all is not lost.

We have the benefit of many resources that simply weren’t available to us in the years past. You can market your home like a pro but you have to use the tools the pro’s use. You have to think like them a little bit and most important of all you need to expose your home like them. Think about this for a moment.

Do you think that your home is going to be purchased by people who don’t know it’s for sale? Of course not! So let’s get started with a few things you can do to help get the word out about your home for sale.

1. Tell every living soul that your house is for sale. Sounds crazy right? Well it’s not. This is a numbers game and the greater the amount of people that know about your home for sale the better. Everyone knows at least one person. so if you told 100 of your closest friends, family or coworkers about your home then logically 200 people will know about it. The truth is that most people know more than just one person so do the math!

2. Use the internet. Wow…did you really need me to tell you that? But seriously let’s really use the internet. There are many free sources to advertise that get a lot of exposure. Free sites like Craigslist.com and Backpage.com are great places to start. You can also do an internet search for FSBO sites that allow free advertising. MyFizbo.com is one but there are many others as well.

3. Send it out in the mail. Go to any printer either in operson or online. Ask them to print a business card with your homes information and that it’s for sale by owner. With anything that you mail out throw one of those cards in there! So what if it’s going out of state? You think people aren’t looking to move out of where they live to your state? They may know someone who lives near you that is thinking of buying your home. Who knows? It can’t hurt!

4. Send out weekly email flyers. Realtors do this all of the time. There are many companies online that will allow you to upload your entire email database and email flyers to those folks. The flyers look really nice and it is relatively cheap to do.

5. Talk to Realtors. Yeah I know what you are thinking. Why would you ever do that? Well let’s talk about what Realtors do. They network with other agents. those agents talk to each other all of the time and when they have something to sell or have a buyers that wants to buy they show each other’s homes to each other and close a deal. So why not talk to the Realtors. They may have buyers looking to buy. The only catch is that they may require you to pay a a comission to them but so what? In most cases the comissio is considerably smaller than had you listed it in the first place. Think about it!

These are only a few things you can do to market your home and sell it yourself successfully. The best advice I can give you is don’t quit. It may be hard and a little frustrating but you can do this if you think and act like a pro. It’s our home and no one knows it better than you so who is going to be able to sell it’s great qualities better than you?
